Miami/O’Brien Woman Assaulted and Framed by Husband

O’Brien and Lake City, FL — [Feb 25, 2025] – A shocking case of domestic violence has emerged in O’Brien, North Florida, where a woman who was physically abused by her husband allegedly was framed with the help of a corrupt small-town court system.

Inel Callwood has reported suffering repeated physical abuse at the hands of her husband, who she alleges used his influence to prevent her from seeking help.

“My husband constantly beat me, and I couldn’t call the police for help because of the power he had in both counties,” she stated. “He told me that if I called the police, I would be the one going to jail. I suffered multiple instances of abuse. He is an alcoholic, and when he drinks, he abuses me terribly.”

Her husband, Joseph “Joe” Charles Peurrung Jr., reportedly left his jurisdiction in the Lake City/O’Brien area and traveled to Destin, where he physically assaulted her in front of bystanders. Fortunately, witnesses intervened and called the police, leading to his arrest. However, Callwood claims that in his home jurisdiction, authorities have refused to hold him accountable for the abuse that occurred in his county.

“He told me he paid off the police and judges where he lives, so they refuse to arrest him,” she stated.

Following this arrest in Destin, Callwood claims that her husband retaliated by submitting false police reports stating that she abused him. A video, titled Framed by My Husband: Corruption, Racism, and False Charges in FL Court System, is circulating online, explaining alleged actions taken by both her husband and his son to use their influence to make corrupt judges and sheriffs of Columbia and Suwannee County do their bidding. While her husband was in a coma, his son, along with a judge, allegedly orchestrated an illegal divorce without her consent.

“They took advantage of his condition and forced him to go along with the divorce when he woke up,” she said.

The son also allegedly and unlawfully obtained a restraining order to remove Callwood from her marital home. This was approved by an unscrupulous judge, allowing the son to complete power of attorney actions that were not legally granted to him, and thus would not have been granted in an upright courtroom. Two judges have already recused themselves, or were recused due to corruption in the legal cases involving Callwood, her husband, or the son.

The son reportedly told Callwood that he is going to send his sheriff friend to pull her over and arrest her for driving his father’s car.

“His son had me illegally arrested for a false DUI. The case was dropped since all drug and alcohol tests came back negative. I have documents from my attorney proving this. They also stole over $300,000 of my personal belongings, all premarital, and cash when they took the car with some of my belongings in it.”

The video also displays disturbing footage of domestic violence and alleged evidence of corruption from local sheriffs and judges. The only option Callwood had to defend herself was to record her husband beating her and framing her.

“Someone told me they were plotting against me, so I need to record everything. So that’s what I did,” Callwood explained. “If I didn’t, I would be in prison for crimes I did not commit.”

Her husband had Callwood falsely arrested and charged for felony domestic battery. The prosecution only dropped the false charges after the aforementioned video was publicly shared, showing evidence of the husband’s alleged attempts to use a corrupt small-town court system to frame his wife. Callwood has admitted to being traumatized by all that has occurred.

This case highlights the dangers faced by victims of domestic violence, particularly when their abusers have significant influence. Advocates are calling for a thorough investigation and proper legal action to ensure justice is served.
